MANGO PALAK DAL| MANGO DAL| MANGO DAL RECIPE
Hi guys, today we are back with another summer special recipe to share with you all, and that is MANGO PALAK DAL. The flavour of mango pieces in the dal is to die for, you will definitely like it, if you like the sour flavour of the raw mangoes. This MANGO DAL is a must for us, we make this at least 4-5 times during the summer time. We actually fight for the mango seed in the dal, comment down below if you do the same!

IF DON'T LIKE SPINACH/ PALAK: You can avoid adding the spinach to the curry and you can follow the exact recipe 😊
COOKING TIME: 25-30 MINUTES
SERVINGS: 3-4 SERVES
INGREDIENTS:
1. Toor dal: 1 cup
2. Spinach: 1-4 bunches (palak)
3. Raw Mango: 2-3 medium sized
4. Oil: 1 table spoon
5. Mustard seeds: 1/2 tea spoon (avalu)
6. Garlic: 10cloves
7. Cumin seeds: 1 teaspoon(zeera)
8. Fenugreek powder: 1/4th teaspoon (menthi)
9. Turmeric powder: 1 teaspoon (haldi)
10. Corainder powder: 1/2 teaspoon (dhania)
11. Green chilly: 2 pieces
12. Chilly powder: 2 teaspoons
13. Salt: 1 teaspoon
14. Coriander leaves optional
15. Curry leaves optional
PREPARATION:
1. Add the toor dal, ½ teaspoon turmeric powder, ½ teaspoon cumin seeds to a pressure cooker.
2. Then add spinach leaves and 1 & ½ glass water to the cooker.
3. Then close the cooker with the lid and ON the stove. Keep the stove on high sim for 2-3minutes, then keep the stove on medium sim.
4. Wait for 2 whistles and off the stove.
the boiled dal and spinach will look like this:
5. Take the garlic cloves and the ½ teaspoon cumin seeds into a hand crusher and crush them for about 1-2 minutes.
6. Keep this crushed garlic-cumin mixture aside for now.
7. Chop the raw mangoes into small pieces and keep the seed also.
PROCEDURE:
1. Take a utensil, place it on the stove and ON the stove.
2. Add oil and mustard seeds (tip: If you scared of oil just like me, 1st add the oil and mustard seeds and keep a lid on it, then on the stove, wait for like 1-2 minutes till the mustard seeds sputters, remove the lid and continue the procedure).
3. Now add the curry leaves and green chilly, wait for a minute.
4. Add crushed garlic-zeera, wait for a minute.
5. Then add the turmeric powder and coriander powder, wait for a minute.
6. Now add the boiled dal to this and wait for 2-3minutes.
7. Then add the chilly powder, salt to it and chopped raw mango pieces and seeds of mangoes.
(we have added 3 mangoes here, because we like mango pieces, you can mangoes as per your taste, we recommend to add 2-3 mangoes. We added the mangoes in this step so that the mango pieces will be a bit crunchy, tangy and sour)
( If you just a single mango, you can add it to the oil while adding the green chilly, so that you will have that sour taste with just one mango)
8. Add 1 and 1/2 glass of water. ( you can add more water based on the consistency of dal you want)
9. Let it cook for 5-7minutes on medium stove. (you can see the appearance like the picture below).
10. Then add the coriander and off the stove.
11. Your MANGO PALAK DAL is ready.
